I was concerned that this desk would be unstable at its height, but it actually feels quite solid.
I've got a 15.6 inch laptop and a 21-inch monitor on it. Works well. It is a heavy piece of office furniture, but that hardware is a positive thing.
Easy to raise and lower, but I'd recommend making sure you have a cord-keeper or some other plan to make sure you don't get wires caught up in the mechanism.
We are using this desk at work and it is JUST what we wanted- the ability to STAND during the day, yet still be able to type, or write. Be sure to MEASURE VERY well, as this desk is bigger than it seems, as the lower shelf sticks out more than it looks like in the pictures and does not slide back. We ended up not being able to use it in the original intended location because of the depth. The second location had more space, and it is working great there. it is SO easy to use, both up and down, with PLENTY of room for monitors, phones, and more, with plenty of room left over. We all love the built in stand on the lower shelf for folder/paperwork, which makes it super easy for keyboard entry on longer documents! The desk itself is very sturdy and has stood up to multiple users very well
A note for unpacking- the desk comes in a LARGE box, and at 60 lbs, its not light. It comes in 2 pieces. the raised lever section /top is already put together for you (yeah) and then you use the 14 included screws (and included screwdriver- THANKS) to connect the lower shelf to the top desk. It does take 2 people to get it together, as you need to balance the shelf while adding it.
If you can't afford the expensive stand alone desks, this is a rather inexpensive option, that your back will thank you for!
I recently had the opportunity to incorporate a standing unit to my desk at work, the ability to work while on my feet instead of my butt all day. The unit arrived in a surprisingly large box but it unpacked and went together very quickly. The instructions were fine (not great, just fine) and the unit's construction is solid state and durable. I do not believe anyone will have trouble assembling the few pieces that need to be screwed into place.
One thing I was happy to see was a hole with a plug in the back center of the table for the unit. This is for a holder for monitors, something I was worried about whether I would be able to use. Its really excellent.
The unit extends to full upright position. I'm a tall guy...if it fits me, it will fit anyone. There are two handles, one on either side of the underside of the desk. When depressed the desk slides up or down with a little pressure. When you release the handles, the desk locks in place right there...so sitting or standing you have a stable solid place to work.
The only negative (which is NOT the fault of the desk) is that the work areas are a little limited. When I open a folder to work, there isn't a lot of space left to hold the folder. Its not a significant issue but it does mean I do some of my work still sitting.
If you are considering this addition to your office, I recommend it happily. This one is a little less expensive than some units, but it is fully functional and works well.
This item is heavy. If you can't lift 59lbs, make sure you have someone around who can when you get it. There's very little assembly so it's not something you can drag into a room and then put on a surface one piece at a time. You just have to add the keyboard shelf.
Once you get it on your surface, however, it's a breeze to use. It has 12 adjustable heights, so the tall and the small can both use it. It really is just as easy as the video demonstration. I got this for our office, and what's great about it is that it collapses all the way down, so that if you have multiple people using the same work station, or if someone has changing preferences, you can have a sitting or standing work station. Maybe you normally like to stand, but today you have a cold and would prefer to sit. It's easy to put down the desk, sit and still be productive.
There is a hole for adding an arm to mount your monitor, but it doesn't come with the arm. The keyboard shelf has a groove for placing your phone, tablet or other items. The desk extends straight up, not up and out, so it won't back you into a corner. It's sturdy and feels like it will last for a long time.
Overall a 5 star product that does exactly what it should.
I've been wanting to get a convertible desk for a while but the cost was prohibitive. Which is why I snatched this one up. When the box arrived, I was surprised by how heavy it is. I was concerned it might be too heavy for my desk but, once we set it up, I knew I had no need for concern. It was easy to assemble.
I've been using this for a while now and I love it! I set a gentle reminder which lets me know I've been sitting down for 30 minutes. Sometimes I have to remain seated but, when I can I stand up, easily lifting everything up with me. I have added a balance board to my office space and stand on it when I am able, adding an extra challenge to my day. I am also able to do simple toe lifts, leg curls, leg lifts, etc. The movement makes me feel better throughout my day and I find I am less stiff and prone to muscle cramps since using this regularly. I'll be using this for many years, I'm sure.
